ADIPEC (Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition & Conference) is the world's largest oil and energy trade show, drawing 160,000 energy professionals from 160+ countries to Abu Dhabi each November. US oilfield services companies, energy technology firms, and clean energy innovators exhibit drilling systems, pipeline inspection technology, sensors, and renewable energy solutions. Non-UAE exhibitors need an ATA Carnet to bring professional equipment and demonstration systems into the UAE without paying import duties.
US and other international exhibitors at ADIPEC need an ATA Carnet covering professional equipment and exhibition goods. The UAE accepts carnets for all standard ATA categories including drilling technology, energy equipment, laboratory instruments, and display systems. Note: some dual-use technology may require US export licensing before applying for a carnet — check with your export compliance team.
8 weeks before ADIPEC (September)
Begin equipment list. Drilling technology, downhole tools, and energy systems require detailed technical specifications and declared values. Gather export control documentation for any dual-use equipment.
5–6 weeks before
Submit carnet application. UAE Customs verifies energy equipment descriptions carefully — specify equipment type, manufacturer, model, and serial number.
3 weeks before
Receive carnet. Authorize your Abu Dhabi freight forwarder in writing to present it at AUH cargo, Khalifa Port, or ADNEC on your behalf.
Arrival at AUH
Present carnet to UAE Customs at Abu Dhabi International Airport. Officers stamp importation vouchers.
ADIPEC show days (approximately 4 days)
Keep carnet accessible at your stand. UAE Customs may verify energy equipment documentation on the show floor.
Departure from UAE
Obtain re-exportation stamps from UAE Customs before equipment leaves the UAE. Essential for discharge.
Within 2 weeks of return
Return completed carnet to EasyCarnet for USCIB or Canadian Chamber discharge.
